Hello, and welcome to the STILL Journal

A short note on why we started writing things down, and what you'll find here.

Hello, and welcome to the STILL Journal

We've been meaning to do this for a while.

Not a place to sell you things — the shop already does that — but somewhere to put the parts that don't fit on a product label. Why we chose soy over paraffin. What a "top note" actually is. Which room each scent quietly suits best. The odd thing we learned the hard way, three batches in.

Why now

Winter's just started here, which feels like the right season for it. The nights come in early, the kettle's on more, and a home starts to matter in a different way than it did in January. It's candle season, mist season, close-the-curtains-and-stay-in season. Seemed like a fair time to start talking properly.

What to expect

New entries every week or so. Some will be practical — how to get a full melt pool on the first burn, why a mist smells different at 8am than at 8pm. Some will just be us thinking out loud about the four scents and what people tell us they remind them of.

Nothing here will ask you to buy anything. If something does make you curious, the shop isn't going anywhere. For the smaller, day-to-day version of this — actual pours, labels going on slightly crooked — that's mostly on Instagram at @stillbrandsa. This is for the longer version.

Thanks for reading the first one. There'll be more.
